University of Minnesota Tie Design
Fabric design created for University of Minnesota and applied on school souvenir ties for visiting guests and scholars.

This tie was designed for the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, which was my undergraduate school. It was originally a project of a screen printing class that I took during my Junior year. We were having a competition in the class that two winners' pattern designs would be selected to be applied to tie designs for school. My design was selected to be used for tie designs in a small amount and was only given away to visitors as gifts.

My concept for this design was to apply the art of Beijing Opera mask making to our school mascot, which was a gopher, to create a connection between the eastern and western cultures. The pattern was made from mascots surrounded by the "M" logo of the University of Minnesota to show its identity.
