University of Minnesota Tie Design
I designed a fabric pattern exclusively for the University of Minnesota, which was subsequently used for crafting souvenir ties for visiting guests and scholars.
My role
During my time as an undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, I had the opportunity to design a tie as part of a screen printing class project during my Junior year. The class held a competition, and my pattern design was among the two winners selected for application on ties representing the school.
The tie design featured a unique concept that combined the art of Beijing Opera mask-making with our school mascot, the gopher, to establish a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures. The pattern showcased the mascots surrounded by the University of Minnesota's iconic "M" logo, emphasizing its identity.
Although the tie design was produced in a limited quantity, it served as a special gift given to visitors, further promoting the connection between our university and diverse cultural influences.
